1909 Edwardian 2

First Hill, Seattle, Washington

This bathroom renovation was a labor of love and collaboration between the owners and their architect neighbor. Although a complete renovation, we were inspired by a desire to respect the original details of this 1909 Edwardian condominium building. New crown molding and the upgraded door casing match the exact period detail of the main living spaces and grand entry. Simple subway tile wainscoting surrounds the room, capped by a soft crown. Carrara marble ledges, countertop and thresholds echo the texture of the heated marble floor. The small space required the new shower to be outfitted with a custom corner glass door, with a hinge location that reduces the door’s encroachment into the room. The transparency of the frameless glass enclosure allows the classic detail to remain dominant.
